4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Book about two soldiers-- By Mrs Debarr This book from 1944, is about two soldiers- Lt Barney Vance and Stormy Applegate. One soldier is home convalesing while the other is deep in enemy territory, they both are strong believers. It is a fairly interesting book, and a little unusual in it's theme but the secondary characters and romances were to me predictable and very typical Grace Hill. I personally liked the Big Blue Soldier better.

We now see the unfortunate results of that change. This book reminds us that there is still good to be found and cherished, our God Who loves us and guides us. She takes us back to a simpler time. Her books are timeless in their themes and a much needed respite from the stresses of the modern world!

Hill has written a beautiful love story while keeping the gospel store foremost By Gwen Martin As in many of her books, Mrs. Hill has written a beautiful love story while keeping the gospel story foremost. The books are old, and so is the gospel message. And both book story and gospel message are as up-to-date as today's newpapers. Of course, times have changed, but right will always win in the end and wrong will be revealed. Her books inspire me to know and practice God's word in my everyday life.
