Q – Why do you enjoy writing children’s books? A – It’s a mixture of things, actually. I loved reading as a child. I would often spend my weekends either at the local library, or curled up in our lazy-boy chair reading. I knew I wanted to instill that love of reading into my children from as early an age as possible. The first children’s book I wrote was called, Casey’s First Tooth, about my oldest daughter getting her first tooth. The kids still laugh when they read that one! Q – What do you hope readers will enjoy most about your children’s books? A – I hope that parents will discover a fun book that their kids will enjoy reading over and over again. Plus, I hope that kids will enjoy trying to read my books, have fun being read to, and love the fun illustrations. Thanks for reading!

Toby wants to play catch with his father but his dad is delayed. Little does Toby know that Dad has a big surprise for Toby and the rest of the family. The whole family goes on a big adventure and soon things get very exciting. What will happen to them?The book is written in easy to understand terms that will engage and delight children. The illustrations are cute and done in fun basic colors that kids will find easy to view. The plot contains enough thrills for little ones and the ending is just right for small ones.The author has produced a number of age appropriate books to read with children. Her plots make for fun reading aloud and pausing to ask questions like 'What do you think will happen next?' or 'What would you do?'. Having the child think about what's going on in the book and imagining themselves in the same situation is a great way to keep them engaged and having fun.I hope she continues to produce such wonderful child (and parent) friendly books!

IT'S A MIX DAY OF "DISASTER" AND FUN By Robin Leigh Morgan This is the second book in Barb Asselin’s “Read-With-Me” beginner reader’s series of books; it’s also the fifth book in collection of books I’d won through the giveaways this author had on LibraryThing. The following is my honest opinion.This is a very enjoyable for its intended young audience of beginner readers. It shows how an enjoyable fun day can turn almost disastrous and then just as quickly turn back to being fun. The illustrations are a wonderful addition in helping its young readers to visualize the story; and for this I’ve given this book 5 STARS.NOTE: If the spelling smells odd or a word seems out of place it’s because the author has used the Canadian/British spelling or usage of the word. This doesn’t affect book’s overall enjoyment. Since the author hasn’t stated who drew them, I have to assume she’s the illustrator for this book as well.

It's a fun family story that will make children happy and enjoy reading the book. It had just the right amount of challenge for my niece who is 6 years old and has just started reading this year. Plus it gave my sister some ideas for a fun family trip. It's a great book to read together with your child and discuss what is going on in the book and how the story is developping. The illustrtions are nice and give life to the story to let your child imagine a great family trip filled with aventures.
