A highly intelligent professor at NYU moonlights as a vigilante contract killer. In a way for Julian, playing the executioner provides a sense of due process on behalf of that poor couple in his nightmare, whose only misstep was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately, like all good things come to an end, so does Julian’s streak of unconventional good deeds when he executes an innocent man. As a result of faulty information (accidently) provided by his contractors, not only does he wipe out the wrong man, but the man also happens to be the stepson of a high profile politician in the midst of a Governor’s race. Unconvinced that his assignment was the result of an innocent misunderstanding, Julian is forced into the unenviable position of trying not to get caught, while at the same time figuring out who set him up, and why. Along his journey for truth and ironically justice, he’ll have to deal with the bumbling’s of his degenerate gambler best friend, and falling for a woman who’ll eventually turn out to be more trouble than she’s worth. In the end, Julian’s fate (as well as those closest to him) will come down to a Heart over Mind decision; or vice versa.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyed the Book By Susan D I received this book from a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I really enjoyed the book, until the last part. I thought the storyline was interesting, and enjoyed the suspense. I do not usually root for a murderer, but in this case, I was there rooting for Julian. I would have given it a five up to the last part, where it started speeding up , and then going backwards in time, and then forwards again. It got very confusing.

Nice Work By ZF Suspenseful and entertaining!Likable and multi-dimensional main character, Julian, quickly draws you into his world.Well-plotted story of his need to implement justice vigilante style during which an unanticipated occurrence along the way sidetracks him. Mission becomes one for truth and his own justice. Imaginative and good tempo throughout. Great read!
