A writer's retreat seemed the perfect chance for Dee Whittaker to take her mind off her marital difficulties. However, she meets five of the most hideous writers ever to have mastered a QWERTY keyboard, and her problems quickly multiply. Things escalate further when the handyman winds up dead. After fleeing from the island, Dee attempts to get her life back on track but begins to notice that something strange is going on. The stories written on the island are coming true and hers is next - complete with a murder. Her estranged husband makes an unlikely sidekick as the two of them try to stop the literary copycat killing an innocent woman.

Satire to savour By B J Burton As I'm in the UK I bought this book from the .co.uk site and here's the review I posted there:"This is a delightful journey into the angst-ridden world of the indie author. No one escapes ridicule: the obsessively self-promoting, deluded 'authors'; the ascerbic reviewer acting as the self-appointed guardian of literary standards; the traditional publisher bewildered by the rapidly-growing, amorphous enemy at the gates. But this is much more than just a funny book accurately aimed at some deserving targets; it's an entertaining tale very cleverly structured using the obvious plot devices commonly found in novels of the common genres - so the whole dull, formulaic book industry is under fire. It seems to me that here we have a very talented writer hoisting the standard of what indie publishing should be about."The book is largely set in iconic British locations (such as the M & S store) and is written with a touch that very much appeals to the British sense of humour. It's going to be interesting to see how the book fares in the US. I hope it crosses the Atlantic OK and this author achieves the success she deserves in that much bigger market.

So was it worth the wait and the hype and the teasing? ................ Yes, yes, yes, yes.I'm sure I recall Rosen actually getting the idea for this particular book from a forum, where she couldn't decide between one story or the other and decided to do both. It is the tale of Kindle forum life and Indie authors, but on a much exaggerated scale (I hope ;p).As a whodunnit, you are kept guessing all the way to the end. The characters are wonderfully larger than life and if you are a forum member, you do wonder where she got her characters from.A wonderful easy read. If you like any of Rosen's other works, you'll adore this one.PS, I am the proud owner of one of the seagulls on the cover :D* I bought this from Amazon's UK site which is why it doesn't say "Amazon Verified Purchase"

Glad it was a freebie thru ereader or I probably would not have read it. Kind of reminded me of the old black & white movie, "And Then There Were None". I could just picture the old house by the sea with the waves crashing . . . As far as the "whodunit", guess you just need to read the book thru the end!!!
