In this first book of the Tales from the Goose Creek B&B, you’ll fall in love with a small town that feels like coming home. Its quirky characters and their many shenanigans will make you laugh out loud as they touch a place in your heart.

Even though retirement is still three years away, Al Richardson is counting the days. He anticipates many enjoyable years in which every day feels like Saturday. But Al’s wife, Millie, has different plans for their retirement. When she learns that a Victorian-era home is up for sale, Millie launches a full-blown campaign to convince Al that God’s plan for them is to turn that house into a B&B.

But a B&B won’t be the only change for the small Kentucky town. A new veterinarian has hung up her shingle, but she’s only got one patient—the smelly dog belonging to her part-time receptionist. And sides are being taken in the issue of the water tower, which needs a new coat of paint…but no one can agree who should paint it.

The situation is coming to a head. Who could have imagined a town protest over a water tower? And who would believe it could culminate in an illegal parade?

Get lost in a novel that reminds you why you love reading.

The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade (Tales from the Goose Creek B&B), by Virginia Smith

Review Approaching retirement, Al and Millie Richardson are at odds about what they want to do with their golden years. For Al, it's all about relaxation and travel. Millie, however, wants to open a bed-and-breakfast in their quiet Kentucky town. Meanwhile the locals are boycotting the new and young female veterinarian after her predecessor's retirement. More trouble is brewing over who will paint the town's water tower after the son of a long time "Creeker" resident with questionable color choices is again up for a vote to refurbish it. VERDICT: Smith (Dangerous Impostor; co-author with Lori Copeland of the "Seattle Brides" books) launches a charming small-town series that introduces the quirky residents of Goose Creek. With an engaging storyline that is at times laugh-out-loud funny and unforgettable characters, this feel-good novel is a sure bet for readers seeking an uplifting and humorous tale.    -- Library Journal starred review, Pick of the Month for September 2015

From the Author Every so often a character marches into an author's imagination and demands to tell their story. In the case of The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade, it was an entire town! The story, the setting, and especially the characters were so much fun to spend time with, I want to move to Goose Creek.I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Outwit & Outlast-Not A Strong Christian Message By Blessings N' Bloggings Al is a man that is counting the days until retirement, his wife Millie on the other hand has something else in mind, she wants to open a B & B and in order to do so she needs to convince or more like quietly manipulate him into seeing things from her perspective. I was not a huge fan of this book, I had high hopes for a Mitford like series but this fell very flat for me.It’s a cute premise but it really lacked in any Christian conviction. The only real mention of God or being Christian is the fact that they regularly attend church and Al meets with the men once a week. There is no redemptive message and even though they are thinking about making a huge change in their lives and livelihood, there is no message about prayer or even following God intent for their lives. The story comes down to who can lovingly out manipulate the other into seeing things their way, so I just really didn't like it. None of the characters sought to seek God guidance for their lives and though it is written in a cute style it is just too Christian light for me, so I will not be continuing the series.I was given this book in EBook format from NetGalley for my honest review.

The characters are funny and sweet but most of all they are real. If you have ever lived in a small town you will see familiar faces.Millie and Albert are now 10 years older than they were in Dr. Horatio vs. the Six-Toed Cat (Tales from the Goose Creek B&B), the bonus e-short story. They are starting to look forward to retirement. However, it becomes clear that they have a different view of what their retirement should look like. It was fun to watch them go back and forth in their battle of wills. I also enjoyed watching the new vet as she starts off on the wrong foot or should I say wrong cat's foot.I enjoyed this story as a whole, but I also enjoyed the stories inside the story. This story was funny without being ridiculous. But the author gives us more than a fun story, but she delves into relationship issues. She looks at small town America and the tendency to push away "outsiders." She also looks at husband and wife relationships and father/daughter relationships. It was interesting and thought provoking.I would buy this book for friends and family. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a light hearted story that has subtle messages about relationships.Disclaimer: I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. By Claudette Delk Full of laughter, rolling in fun, and offering wonderful recipes The Most Famous Illegal Goose Creek Parade is my latest favorite book by Virginia Smith. Publisher Harvest House certainly knows how to pick them. It’s about a new young vet in town. It’s about pets and those who love them. It’s about an argument that spits a town. It’s about neighbors discovering what is important. It’s about young love. It’s about seasoned love. It’s about starting over. Many will find it a great guide to the art of marriage.Everyone will fall in love with this tiny town and its people. Two parents try to protect their young in equally fervent and equally wrong ways. A husband and wife fight for the upper hand in their marriage. The most irritating co-worker steps on your last nerve. The author has sown the themes into a seamless tapestry of love, laughter and good will that has this reader hoping that the next link in this series is on its way – and soon.
