What if, instead of focusing on church programs, we shared meals with people? What if, instead of starting more building initiatives, we fed the hungry?

The Old Testament is filled with stories of food, nourishment, and the struggle against hunger. Jacob and Esau fought over soup, God saved the world from famine through Joseph, and the people of Israel received manna from God when they were starving in the wilderness.

Similarly, Jesus's ministry was centered around feeding people and discussing ''real food'' during meals. In Nourish, Mark Moore shows us that by using food to reach people, Jesus was simply following the precedent set by his Father--a God who loves to feed us.

Mark Moore’s book about a God that loves to feed us seemed especially apropos.Like all good story tellers, Moore can teach a truth that sneaks up on you later. His style is so disarming and enjoyable that you don’t realize how profound the message is until you have time to reflect. I cannot wait to re-teach these lessons; lessons made approachable and interesting by an author who is living the mandate of Jesus.

The lens of "a God who loves to feed us" demonstrates throughout Scripture the centrality of God's provision and the central role of food and meals in the gospel of Jesus. Moore combines a powerful message, with the potential to change the way we interact with the world, and a storyteller's gift. The impact of Moore's message, for me, wasn't fully realized until I had finished the book and had time to reflect. How different would the church be (and the world's view of the church) if we started sharing meals with people as a means of spreading the gospel? Moreover, this approach can be scaled to individuals and families as well as to larger scales for the broader church community.

By Amazon Customer Mark Moore does a great job in presenting a concept found frequently in the gospel...."a God that loves to feed us". I could talk about how well it is written, I could talk about the freshness of the thoughts, but the thing that I loved the most was how it was so clear throughout the entire Bible and that I have missed that truth for a very long time. How did I miss this? Obviously, hunger is not something that has been a personal struggle. The reality is clear when you are hungry, you see and hear differently. Hunger makes us look at the world in a different way. When you look at the gospel as true bread and life, it transforms the need. You will not be disappointed with this read. It will open your eyes and bless your heart.Shawn M.
