I am such a huge fan of the Beautiful Creatures/Dangerous Creatures Novels By Anna Davies I am such a huge fan of the Beautiful Creatures/Dangerous Creatures Novels. I have waited with baited breath to read the next installment. I literally counted down the months then days. However, while it was nice to see some of the old characters I felt this novel went in to many directions. I mean there was such a build up and journey to make Ridley who she was at the end of Dangerous Creatures- throughout the entire series that I felt this ending fell flat. I was also confused by it. Is the series over? It felt like all that struggle for an anticlimactic ending. This actually pains me as I am writing it because I am such a huge fan. just hoping there is another installment and this is just not the end. I'm sorry
4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Ummm... By Maggie B This was definitely an interesting book. Told from the alternating perspectives of Ridley, Link, and Nox, it continued right where Dangerous Creatures left off. I really liked Dangerous Creatures, but Dangerous Deception kind of took a leap off a cliff. The plot line was all over the place, and I'm very confused by the ending (is it the end of the series?). It was good to see Liv and John Breed back, but I missed having Ethan and Lena take part in the adventures. Overall, this book by far fell short of my expectations and left me disappointed and confused. I'm really hoping for one more book to tie up the series and give it a better, less unfulfilling, ending.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. okay installment, best suited for rabid fans of the series By Gaele AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 3 Narration: 4 Story: 2A spin off from the original Beautiful Creatures and Caster Chronicles stories that combined witches, curses, drama and teenaged hormones: tossed them about and spit out some truly fun stories. Each character, love them or hate them, has a personality and a purpose, even if that is just to mix up the action. In this story, following on the heels of Dangerous Creatures, the three main characters of this story: Link, Nox and Ridley all tell their version of the story, the same story in three perspectives. Although, Ridley’s point of view was very limited she was held, drugged and isolated, from the rest. I wanted to see more of Ridley like I knew her – the ultimate instigator, dancing on the edge of irredeemable bad girl. Link has changed and grown through the stories, and he continues to find his way through the new challenges that come up Nox has stepped up and grown in very unexpected ways, and become a star of this story, and I can only expect his role will increase. But this is most certainly NOT a stand alone story: a bit hasty in the construction with an ending that was abrupt and wholly unexpected, this felt more like a filler story, taking Ridley into the dark side and showing her dancing with the idea of embracing what she believes is her nature. There is something missing in this story: a lightness and tightness of plotting, character progression and balance that is not as clear as in other stories. It’s an okay installment, best suited for rabid fans of the series.Narration in this story is provided by Kevin T. Collins and Khristine Hvam: and felt their performances were perfectly suited to the story and characters. Collins managed to bring the emotion and frustration from both Link and Nox to their parts, with a nice change in inflection, pacing, tone and delivery that presents them as distinct entities. Hvam’s performance for Ridley captured her “I don’t give a hoot” attitude anymore, while capturing the stilted, almost stifled emotional impact of these decisions. The narration was certainly the best part of this installment.I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Hachette Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
