By Jamie Maltman I enjoyed the Star Trek meets Douglas Adams-esque vibe of the first season Greenstar, and was very happy to hear it would be returning for a second season. Their episodic style is perfectly executed, and it really feels like you're watching a comedic space opera story unfold each week, as they visit new systems, encounter a variety of aliens, and get into trouble caused by themselves as much as external threats. The part the authors nailed this season was the overall arc. Each episode is an individual caper, but they're tightly tied together with an overall story that comes to a satisfying conclusion, but absolutely leaves you wanting to know what happens in season 3. I'd start reading it today if it were already available. The humor runs from clever to wonderfully silly, and the memorable characters will come back to you immediately when you start on the first episode, and you'll be rooting for (and against them) right away. Ditto for some great new ones. And of course, the AI Topik is back with my personal favorite part of the episodes, his ascerbically funny intro and outro logs to the reader. The violence is comedic, and any implied sexual content is far from explicit and generally comedic as well, though the relationships between the characters were further explored in this season, as were the borders of the universe.I received an ARC copy of the book from the authors, and also reviewed it on the To Be Read Podcast (which you can track down on YouTube or iTunes).

The indestructible liquid beings (called "energy thieves" because they cause stars to nova) along with time traveling envelopes (really!) keep you wondering what the next crazy thing to happen could possibly be. Like Season 1 it continues to make fun of every sci fi TV show, movie and book ever made. If you like sci fi and humor you'll like this book.

The character arcs were deeper and fantastic, and the authors wasted no time getting back into the action. This is definitely one series that is getting better as it goes, so I would definitely recommend it.
