Lisa Caron, a reaper by trade is onto her next adventure, in Las Vegas, no less. I have to admit, this is one character that makes me feel like I can do anything. She's a mother, a widower, and has one of the most unusual jobs anyone can imagine, reaping stupid souls.In this installment, Lisa gets to try her hand at a new position with GRS, ferryman on the River Styx. She uses her mother powers, her reaper powers and meets new friends along the way.The classic Boone Brux dead pan humor flows off the page and has you laughing one minute and speed reading because so much is happening in the plot the next. I absolutely love this series and hope there are a lot more of Lisa antics to come!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This book will "float your boat"! By M'Lee Cute story and I love these characters although some were more developed than others. I started reading these books because Lisa was introduced in another series I love (the V V Inn Series title "Death Times Two" co-authored by Boone Brux). I won't go into the plot of the book because it has been gone into before and after this review. Lisa is adorable and her life issues with her looks, three kids, older home in disrepair, etc. seem very real! Her best friend Vella is hilarious and although her partner Nate does not seem as developed to me- he comes across well. Her "boss" at the "Company" is a character I would like to "lust after" since he is described a such a yummy looking guy but other than his description he doesn't seem to be very more fully fleshed out (no pun intended). Maybe more to come?Being a Vegas native, the best part of the book for me is the Las Vegas setting-the author hit it right on the money ( this pun intended)! This is where the characters are terrific from Hal the Porter (so cool-very hippy dippy) to Mara whom I LOVE LOVE LOVE! She is a little bit high fashion model, a little bit biker chick and a whole lot COOL! She was a pleasant surprise and I could read a series about her! The Angels and Demons and of course everything along the River Styx that would involve the Grim Reaper storyline was super also.I will say that the humorous tone of the book is right on the mark! I really enjoy a bit of dry and snarky tone in books like these and this one has it in spades! (Check out the couple at the River Styx asking to speak to the "Manager" for better service!)
