Great new cozy mystery series filled with laugh out loud moments By Cynseer Booklover If you are looking for a book chock full of hilarious characters and set during the sixties in a West Texas town.....then get a copy of You Can't Get Blood Out of Shag Carpet by Juliette Harper. This is the first book in The Study Club cozy mystery series. I love the small town atmosphere filled with larger than life true Texas ladies. I laughed throughout the book and cannot wait for the next in the series. Hopefully soon. Highly recommended~

It’s so hilariously over the top that it’s amazing. I love the Study Club girls and all of their personalities. They manage to uncover several crimes by gossip, southern manners and Aqua Net set in the 60’s with the accompanying values and stringent beliefs.When I read the first chapter of this book, I was so worried how the rest of the book was going to turn out. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well the story made sense and was readable even with the over the top antics of the characters. This was my first book from this author but it will not be my last. It was a breath of fresh air next to my usual steamier reads.The rhyming names cracked me up. Wanda Jean, Maybelline and Dolene with Hilton Milton being notable favorites. The best part is that there are women like this in every single town in the South for sure if not all over the world. Southern women definitely are a breed unto themselves. Bless their hearts. LOLCopy provided in exchange for review.

The Study Club, a group of local women who are smarter than most people, need to solve the murder to save one of their own from being accused of it.From the shag carpet - ours was turquoise - Wanda Jean's is beige - to the constant smoking - to the description of the hair arrangements, every word is a vision of that time in Texas.The best scenes are their conversations with the organic gardener/extension agent, and the orchid growing editor - where their world views get broadened a little.I will be looking for more by this author!
