By Celia Kennedy In the ongoing discussion of what is Chick Lit and what is Contemporary Women's Fiction, I believe that those authors who dare to take on the deeper issues of life, and create a heroine who is strong and capable, dips their quill in the Contemporary Women's Fiction ink pot.Ms. McDonnell's series title could lead one into believing that the fairy tale ending will occur - family with money bails abandoned and destitute girl/boy out of trouble.In Any Way You Dream It, we meet hard working, loving and loyal Lucy - aunt to three engaging children, sister to an irresponsible and troubled woman, and daughter of a mother who has chosen a questionable path. All in all, Lucy should have some serious baggage, and while she does have a small tote bag's worth, she is strong and has a solid sense of self.Getting herself into a jam, Lucy eventually accepts well-to-do Chase's offers to bail her out of her woes - attending her high school reunion and posing as her fiancé. The dialog between the two is filled with hilarious banter, moments of trepidation, and ultimately warm, and honest banter.But just when you think the man who has it all is going to save Lucy, it is Lucy who saves Chase.Ms. McDonnell captured my heart with this book, as I love strong and capable women who aren't looking to be rescued, so much as looking for someone who wants to help - and there is a huge difference. That Lucy maintains her independence and ideals to the end absolutely delighted me.It's a must read!

It had just the right mixture of fun, humor, drama, and romance that every Chick Lit / Romance fan enjoys reading. You can't help but get drawn into Lucy's life story, and when you add Chase's support, and their unexpected budding romance, you will get a warm fuzzy feeling that will leave you with a smile on your face!Any Way You Dream It is the second book in the Upper Crust Series.I received a copy of the book from the author and publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Chase really did seem too good to be true, but he also came with his own unique set of baggage that we slowly learn about. The twist with Lucy’s sister was really sad to read about, but added a lot of depth to the story. This was chick lit and women’s fiction wrapped into one, and was a delight to read. I have not read the first book in this series, Any Way You Slice It, but that didn’t hinder my reading experience with this one, but definitely made me want to pick that up as well!
