About the Author Brian Switek is the author of "Written in Stone". He is a regular online columnist for "Smithsonian" and "Wired". He has written for "Scientific American", "Nature", "The Wall Street Journal", and "The Guardian". His examinations of fossil discoveries and the latest in paleontology have been featured on the BBC and NPR. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.Julius Csotonyi is one of the world's most high profile and talented contemporary paleoartists. Csotonyi has considerable academic expertise that contributes to his stunning dynamic art. He has created life-sized dinosaur murals for the Royal Ontario Museum and for the Dinosaur Hall at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and most of the artwork for the new Hall of Paleontology at the HMNS. He lives in Canada.

Outstanding artwork by Julius Czotonyi, who is the premier plaeo-artist at this time. Accompanying this beautiful artwork, is the astute, insightful and easily grasped text by Brian Switek, who is beloved for his many writings on dinosaur and prehistoric topics for readers of all ages. I do have children, but honestly, I bought this book as an adult for myself - yes, it is THAT good.

Hard to miss with the art of Julius Csotonyi. My onlu gripe is that Allosaur gets cut off for text ane we miss this great piece in its full effect: http://csotonyi.com/galleries/mesozoic-era/jurassic-period/#!enviragallery1398-7I also wish some of the other creatures in the art were identified. This book is meant for younger audiences but all ages will enjoy it.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Book to Start Your Dino Adventure By Sounder This book has a great selection of wonderful art that really puts you in the jaws of the animals. Nice big print, too, unlike the other books with Csotonyi's work. Exciting and colorful layout. This would be a great book for people who are not yet totally die-hard dino fans and just want to dip their toes in paleontology. Everything is explained, but not at endless, perhaps overwhelming depth. Stunning cover, too.
