Frank N' Goat: A Tale of Freakish Friendship, by Jessica Watts

Review "Why isn't this a bestseller around the world? I laughed out loud and snickered at least a dozen times. Frank N' Goat is very morbid and silly, but I could still imagine reading it to kids. Not only would this book teach kids a fun lesson on friendship, but would also help them learn to understand humor and wit. Of course, these lessons would also help adults, just as it helped a goat and a monster. Frank N' Goat reads like a children's book version of a Christopher Moore novel, and for that Jessica Watts is awesome." Reader's Favorite  - (Five Stars)

From the Author "Writing this book was my chance to combine all the things that made my childhood less vanilla and far more fun; Shrek, Calvin and Hobbes, The Gashlycrumb Tinies and Shel Silverstein. The sense of humor is really ageless; there are jokes for kids, adults, cinephiles, literati. There are references and easter eggs throughout, so its a kind of book that gets more interesting the more you read it. Until you've read it about 63 times. Then it's probably pretty boring."

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. For Kids? For Adults? Yes to Both Questions... By Chris Ward This is the poignant story of a monster and a goat. An odd couple to be sure, but they develop a real friendship and share some nifty adventures. It's a children's book for grown-ups, or the opposite of that-- the words and pictures are funny for kids, but much of the humor is aimed squarely at adults. It's a gentle story told with tongue-in-cheek, and kids will love it.I'd buy this for 8-and-ups to read for themselves-- those younger can have it read to them, surely more than once. The paintings, amusing and colorful, will keep their attention. The book is fun all the way through, with some surprising twists. It's a winner-- I'm hoping for a sequel...

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Prepare to be confused and delighted By B. Krawczyk This one is pure imagination - the kind that is confusing yet endearing. As you turn each page, you begin to realize you have no idea what quirky, peculiar twist the story will take, and that is what makes this such an enjoyable read. Written in a genuine style and tone that shows a likability of both author and characters, while appealing to any audience that can appreciate the humor and charming weirdness. Don't get it twisted - this is a weird book - but in this case that is a massive positive that can be enjoyed by just about anyone with an imagination and willingness to get a little out there with it.
