Hernandez I read all sorts of dinosaur books to my son, who loves them, so to me a measure of a good dinosaur book is "Did I learn something I didn't know before?" and with this book the answer is, yes, indeed I did. What I like about this book is that the title asks a question, and even though the author already knows the answer, he doesn't tell you right away. Instead, he makes reading the book like an scientific exploration, where you are presented with two theories, then you are presented with evidence, and then you examine the evidence to find the answers. The book is written at a reading level that a child can understand, but has arguments presented in the way that any college textbook might present it. The author is obviously an expert and he presents the arguments really well. At the beginning of the book, he presents two different scenarios; one of the T-Rex as a scavenger, and another of the T-Rex as a hunter. Then, he presents the arguments used by those who favor the idea of the T-Rex as a scavenger. Then, one by one, he refutes each and every one of those arguments. There are drawings of bones, there are pictures of modern animals, and there are comparisons between the two. The book also emphasizes that scientists work by analyzing fossils and making educated guesses, and that unless someone builds a time machine and travels back to the Cretaceous time period, we can never know all the answers.

I have not read it myself but for now it's enough to say that our purpose was achieved as my son loves it and shares all these information bits with us all the time. T-Rex is his new friend (scary!).
