By Amazon Customer This has been my favorite book since I picked it up at a library book sale. It is a love story about Ben (a writer, loner, and grouchy soldier boy), and Ginnie (a runaway heiress, sad comedienne, and pale blonde dancer with an all black dance troup). They don't actually meet until after their relationship begins. Ben is off in training, and Ginnie takes over his apartment. She's lonely and Ben seems to be perfect for her. They begin a pen pal correspondance, and eventually, fall in love. All sorts of hijinks ensue. This is a book that I want everyone to read. I always suggest it, then shove it into bored readers' hands.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Amazing Love Story By Melissa The amazing fascinating love story of Herman Raucher and his wife. A lot of this is autobiographical and the New York backdrop provides a great setting. This was one of those rare books where I felt like I was coming home to a friend every time I realized I was within hours of being able to read again!

By the same author as "Summer of 42" and I first read this in my "youth". Is filled with great sarcastic wit - will make you laugh and then make you cry so have the tissues close at hand.
