Evidently, a lot! What is most unique about this step by step guide to Kingdom living though, is that it seems to predict and then answer all the reader's Kingdom-related questions. That is, all except one: how has the church survived until now without such a comprehensive, easy to understand manual for a life devoted to the Kingdom of God? While most material I have come across on the Kingdom of God leaves a question mark next to the practical application of it, in Kingdom Driven Life the author skilfully dispels all such cloudiness with real-life examples, factual church history, current and future world events, the infrastructure of the Kingdom, comprehensible action points and much more. It does what a great book must be able to do, it cuts across religions, faiths, ethnicities, cultures etc. Everyone can understand and apply this essential wisdom.In my opinion, Kingdom Driven Life is not really a book, it is more like a large dose of God's mercy sent to the church and all humanity in written form. Look around you, honestly compare the mark that the early church made on society to that made by the end-time church so far; is there a difference? Also observe current, pending and impending world events; does the church need a lifeline, does the world need solutions? Well, here they are. Do we need to don kingdom authority? From Library Journal In Randall, Arizona, portents signal a looming disaster of apocalyptic proportions: there are stillbirths, animal sacrifices, church desecrations, and mysterious disappearances. An ancient-eyed and omniscient preacher arrives and claims that Satan is collecting the souls of the stillborn infants and murdered townspeople, causing them to commit further grotesque crimes. He recruits the sheriff, the Episcopal priest, and expectant father Gordon Lewis, whose unborn daughter is, apparently, Satan's goal, but how this will cause the apocalypse is never explained. Also unclear are the characters themselves. Although likable, they are not given enough distinct personality or motivation to indicate why they in particular should be the chosen warriors; and during the final battle, none has any unique strength or talent to offer. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Excellent debut By Chris W. Bentley Little's novels are widely available in paperback, and my curiosity got the better of me. I decided to pick up "The Revelation" after discovering that it won the Bram Stoker Award. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't completely sold on this novel either.Randall, Arizona has become a target of vandals. One of the local churches has been desecrated, and there have been several cases of livestock mutilation. Sheriff Jim Weldon begins looking into the crimes, wondering whether they are crimes or fraud since the Reverend of the defiled church has disappeared. A young boy finds himself involved in Weldon's investigation, and seems to have information he could not possibly have regarding the Reverend.Meanwhile, local man Gordon Lewis and his wife Marina are expecting a child. Complicating this is the disturbing fact that several women in the town have suffered miscarriages, and Marina suspects there's something in the water. Or worse.A lone Preacher comes to town. Brother Elias is his name, and his mission is clear: The End is nigh, and the sinners shall suffer...The story picks up from there, with no shortage of shocks and thrills. Little is adept at bringing together a wide variety of workable characters into a bizarre situation. There isn't too much here that would be unfamiliar to a veteran horror reader, but that's part of the novel's charm. As others have pointed out, this story follows along with a "B movie" quality about it. I couldn't agree more. I felt like I was reading a tale along the lines of the movie "Tremors", complete with desert settings and over the top action sequences. The gore is plentiful, yet never outrageous. The pacing is quick, and the shock factor kept me turning the pages. Little speaks with a quick wit and describes the goings-on with gusto. I liken his writing style to early Robert McCammon.The book is not without its flaws. There are times where Little stumbles, and dishes out bits of unnecessary violence. The kitten incident is a prime example; check the other reviews for a synopsis. The ending is a lot of fun, but the horror seemed suspended in favor of a near-cartoonish bloodbath.I found out later that this was awarded the Stoker for best FIRST novel, which explained everything. For a first novel, Bentley Little scores big time. I'm going to pick up a few more from him, as he can only get sharper with his writing. I'm going to give "The Revelation" 3 1/2 stars rounding up to 4 for sharp, entertaining horror, shocking shocks, and being a quality debut that has me craving more.

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. One great book!!! By A Customer Little's first book is more linear and less experimental than his later works. It's more of a straight-ahead Lovecraft pastiche than the cutting-edge social commentary of his more recent work, but the scares are here, as are the King-like syampathetic characters. And there's no skimping on the gore. One of the few first novels to win the Bram Stoker award that actually deserved it.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. A (bad) B-movie in prose By A Customer I read this asinine book while in bed with a case of influenza. It may well have delayed my recovery. The plot: Some kind of ageless evil is menacing a rural town, manifesting itself in the form of rampaging reanimated fetuses (no joke, people). After all kinds of grisly, mysterious happenings (taking up more than half of the novel) a stereotypical wild-eyed preacher, leading a small band of determined locals, shows up with a plan to save the day. Now, it should be noted that horror novels, if they are to be bothered with at all, ought to have at minimum as much merit as your average slasher movie--but it seems to me that I wasted both less money and less time watching "Scream," which at least scored a few points for decent satire. "The Revelation," conversely, is so witless, blandly written, and unimaginative (just for fun, count how many chapters end with sentences like "The last thing he heard before he blacked out...") that I can only assume that it must have been a lousy year in horror fiction for this to have won--as the front cover boasts--the Bram Stoker Award. It's also gratuitously violent; one tasteless scene involving a kitten nearly inspired me to toss the book right out the nearest window. The characters are thoroughly uninteresting; they're either cardboard cutouts (the aforementioned preacher) or so vaguely sketched that it's difficult to get a handle on them. There's no revelation here worth talking about--though it convinced me that trash fiction is no better than trash cinema.

I have not read an engaging romance in quite a long time, and this reminded me why I had always enjoyed the genre. The pages overflow with well developed characters. I particularly liked the heroine, Anna, and the travel master, Mr. Charles. Even the secondary characters came alive. I can highly recommend this book.*spoiler alert*Anna is a successful, bright research librarian at the Library of Congress. Her nasty mother-in-law lives with her, and her narcissistic husband is a document carrier for the U.S. government. (Frankly, I would like to smack Anna's mother-in-law upside the head. She is a mean, manipulative woman.) Anna functions as a caregiver for this awful women.The plot begins to develop as we realize something has happened to Kevin, the husband. His death sets in motion a string of events, and we soon find out he is a liar and a bigamist. There is a silver lining in the storm clouds, however, and an investigator named Frank Caburn shows up at Anna's door on an icy Washington D.C. day. Frank is the polar opposite of her cheating husband, and he is charged with gathering information about her husband and taking care of her. As Anna peels back the onion of her husband's deceit she lets go of the repressive mentality that has controlled her.I hope the author will honor my request for a future story that includes some of these characters. My only disappointment was that Clara-Alice, the mother-in-law, didn't have more of a comeuppance. She disgusted me.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.This is a deeply absorbing portrayal of a woman, Anna Nesmith who discovers her husband, Kevin, has betrayed her in multiple ways. This book will have you thinking twice about taking anything or anyone at face value. But, one deceitful person shouldn't have everlasting control over your life and you should never give them that power. Anna's journey is touching, and left me feeling warm all over and with a smile on my face.When Anna learns her husband has been living a double life, his work in the state department makes things even more difficult. When Frank Caburn is assigned to look into this very delicate matter, he never expects to encounter Anna, a strong, beautiful woman trapped in a horrible marriage and about to discover it was all a big lie. Needing to tread carefully, Frank informs Anna a little at a time about her husband's activities. But, this not the only issue. Anna literally has the “mother-in-law from hell”, and then some. Good Lord! Even after all that has been heaped on Anna, she begins to slowly comes back to life finding herself feeling free and ready to shed all the terrible years she spent married to a creep and chained to her mother-in-law's will.Anna could very well have folded , could have decided all men were like Kevin, could have allowed her anger to turn to bitterness. However, instead she finds Frank is the kind of man she was looking for all along. Frank was absolutely dreamy, just my kind of guy! A confident, attractive man with a good open heart who is willing to go all in to keep Anna safe, happy, and give her the chance of having the family she has always wanted.This is truly an uplifting story and while the drama is heavy, there are poignant, grab the tissues, moments where Anna thinks of her mother and the support she would have offered. But, this story is not without the trademark Weger humor many of you are familiar with. The secondary characters give the story a lighter tone when it was needed and I especially liked Frank's work partner, Helen. The story is devoid of immature angst and self absorption and shows how love can and should grow on an emotional level, giving the sensual aspects of the romance more meaning. I really wish there were more stories written like this one.5 stars!

Jackie Weger.ARC supplied by Author.Well, I've loved the first to books I've read of Jackie' so maybe I had too high expectations....I liked this book, enjoyed it but didn't quite have the love for it that I did the others. I'm not sure why as the cast of characters were great. Anna, there are thousands of wives like her, looking after elderly family members, working outside the home, keeping the household jobs done and providing backup for husbands while putting their own hopes and dreams on hold....I really felt for her. She gets a visit one day from Frank. Internal investigator fpr a state department. I'm sure they don't work the way they do in the book but hey - this is fiction and it makes the story far more interesting that if he simply phoned and sent numerous duplicated letters etc! He seems to work in a small dept, almost off grid, with lots of flexibility. That allowed him and his colleague Helen to spend lots of time with Anna sorting out the mess her husband had left. And he'd certainly been doing some dreadful deeds that left her well ordered life in tatters. Frank - the attraction between him and Anna is there from the start but they both dance around it, and its not til really far in the novel that they do get together. Jackie has some great expressions for male appendages... I loved "tally whacker" in the first one, dingus in the next then this time its Mr Johnson :) Helen, lady in control of the office, fabulous woman, knows what she wants from life and loves helping others, her tenants JoJo and Clarence - what a great pair, added so much colour to the novel. I think my favourite though (discounting Franks sex appeal) is neighbour Lila, in her nineties but the sort of lady I aspire to be one day, she drinks, enjoys life, laughs and is full of joie do vivre.I got a bit confused over the storyline though, didn't really understand the political machinations of what Anna's husbands job was, he seemed top be some sort of diplomatic courier, which clearly allowed him to live his double life, leaving his mother -the mother in law from hell - with Anna. I think that part just wasn't strong enough for me - I didn't feel engaged with the actual story though I loved the characters, I'd love friends and neighbours like that. I loved the gentle way once again Jackie has woven the romance through the novel, starts slowly but right from the early part you can see that attraction is unstoppable, and then once they do get together its Jackie's characteristic well written sex scenes, sensual and racy but never smutty or overly "in your face" - what happens fits perfectly in the novel. That's a treat when so many novels seems to have badly written sex scenes just for the scandal and selling point. I love spice in my romance, not and steamy no problem, but it must fit the story and characters and must be well written.Stars: four, loved the people but not so keen on the actual plot.

This story doesn't do it for me, either.So there's an attraction between Noah and Joshua as they set out on their vacation trip to Park City, Utah. Skiing, snowboarding, and added to that is this mystery of a white wolf.Josh and Noah are very shallow characters, there's not enough depth to them. Josh is in college with a female roommate. All this and he's LDS? ?? Who knows what he's studying or what his life goals are. He's out to have fun and have a vacation away from his family. Oh yes and he's short, is a virgin, and has strong ethics. Josh has long burnet hair, is handsome, smokes pot, and snowboards. Who knows what he is studying at school or why he offers this trip and his family cabin after being away for ten years. . .SPOILERNow this guy with the half metal face. He had wolf eyes? The story ends and no explanation? I'm to assume he was a wolf that was experimented on and conditioned to work for the CIA. And there were a couple of other thoughts that had me stumped. Like Noah saying that a wolf only acts aggressive when it involves his mate. So the white wolf acted aggressively towards Josh so I'm to assume Josh was threatening the wolf's mate? And why didn't the white wolf reveal itself to Noah instead of a fight? There's just too many loose ended threads and while the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it sure left me unsatisfied. This was published in May 2015 and says in the back that the next one, Sleet, will be out in June 2015; it's now December 2015 and that book hasn't been released. This was an odd book. It started along just fine but then, toward the end, went way off the rails. I wasn't even sure how to rate it. It was really good then got really weird then ended at a giant cliffhanger. I wouldn't advise reading this until the next installment comes out.

I want a book that is exciting and engrossing. This book was neither. The writer has talent and I will try one of her books again in the future. This book just was not for me.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Sisters' Fate By Angie Sisters’ Fate was easily one of my most anticipated titles of the year, and it does not disappoint! The ending is on the predictable side, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It starts immediately where Star Cursed left off, and I was still feeling that heartache! The relationship between Cate and Maura is more strained than ever, especially now that the war between witches and the Brotherhood is arising, since the sisters seem to be on the same side but favoring different methods. There’s also a sickness spreading through New London which will serve as the catalyst.I’m going to start with Finn, because he’s what I was most nervous and excited for in Sisters’ Fate. I couldn’t think of any resolution short of a miracle to fix what happened, but there is no magical solution. But things also aren’t as dire as they seem, which is good! Finn is smart and realizes that something is going on, but obviously he doesn’t know what. Cate doesn’t want any lies between them, and things just kind of go from there. As much as I wanted things to be all sunshine and rainbows, I was glad how things played out. It was more believable that way. There are some bumps along the way, but I’m happy with out it turned out for them.I continued to love to hate Maura. She is just so terrible and desperate! I felt really bad for her in Sisters’ Fate, but I was firmly on Cate’s side. Nothing will ever excuse what she did, but I liked how in the end both girls made an effort. Even if it was all for Tess rather than for each other. Maura’s fate, unfortunately, is one of things that I found entirely too predictable which kept me from absolutely loving this conclusion. I wasn’t as affected as I could have been, since I just felt like I was waiting around for it to happen. I was hoping for a twist, but alas, there wasn’t one.Where there were twists was in the plot. I was wondering where the heck Sisters’ Fate was going with all of this sickness going around and talk of plague. Well, it’s not what I (or any of the characters) thought. I really liked how it connected everything though. It is fairly obvious who is behind things near the end, but the reasoning and the outcome was a bit shocking. It’s quite an extreme measure to take, and unfortunately it works…in a way. In a strange way. This alternative history world isn’t fixed by any means, despite the battles between the witches, the Brothers, and the general population. There is a feeling of hope at the end though, and that’s all we can really ask for.I’ve loved this series, and I’m super sad that it’s over! My minor complaints aside, I did enjoy this ending and think it was the right one. All of the characters have stayed true to who they are, and there are no out of nowhere twists. That’s not to say that the characterization was static, because it’s not. Cate, especially, changes a lot, and I was tense while waiting for her to snap (and oh, how she does!). All in all, Sisters’ Fate delivers.

I’m having an even harder time with the fact that every review I’ve read shows that people actually loved the ending to the book. I mean really? Loved? I think that’s just too strong of a word to use for this. I guess this is me right now, alone in my feelings.I think the main reason that I did not like the ending is that it felt unresolved to me. Even though it really wasn’t. The author did a great job at tying all the loose ends, they just weren’t the knots I was hoping for. They weren’t the resolutions I wanted. Especially for Finn and Cate. After everything they have been through and with Cate so broken-hearted at the fact that Finn didn’t love her because he didn’t know her anymore. I just felt like Finn should have been able to tell Cate that he loved her. He said he can't say that he loves her yet but he realizes that he’s falling in love with her. Well WTF!?!? That’s not okay. I needed Finn to tell her that he loved her again. I NEEDED it!! But he just didn’t say it, and so I’m sitting here feeling incomplete.And THEN…The prophecy! That damn prophecy!!!! Seriously!?! I had really high hopes that the girls would be able to change the prophecy. My hopes were so high in fact that they apparently soared way above reality because guess what…THEY DIDN’T CHANGE THE PROPHECY!! I really think that the author did a number on us with that one. I know I said there are spoilers in this review but I don’t want to give that information away. I won’t tell you who dies, just know that someone DOES die! And I am truly and utterly heartbroken about it. Which is funny because I actually kind of expected it but there was so much redemption and love going around that I thought it was kind of cruel to let it actually happen. But hey, I’m not a writer so what do I know. Oh that’s right, I’m the reader and I know what I like. I like happy endings and THIS was NOT a happy ending, at least to me.I did, however, still love the series as a whole and highly recommend it to everyone that I will ever encounter. And I did still love the book as whole, I just wish the ending would have happened a little differently. So go forth and read this series, Swooners! Then come back and let me know what you thought.

A Beautiful, Satisfying Conclusion By Step Into Fiction Let's be honest, those of us who read Star Cursed have been haunted by the ending of that book for quite some time now, right? The hurt, betrayal and just the pain was still strong. A cliffhanger of that magnitude is rare and especially one that blindsided mostly everyone. We've been dying to read more but at the same time, aren't you terrified? The prophecy is a scary thing. The pain we felt from the ending of Star Cursed is still very fresh and yet, we want to pick this book up and possibly put ourselves through more of it? This is why, my dear fellow readers, I have put off reading this book even though I've had it in my possession for a month now. I was terrified but dying . . . dying to know more.I am going to vague, as I do not want to spoil anything for anyone but this book was damn brilliant. When I read the previous two books, I fell and boy did I fall hard. The characters, the world, the imaginary, the story, just everything. I thrived for more and honestly, a trilogy just isn't enough. I could read books and books and books of these characters. Especially with ones that we only just met in this book. And I know you hear from me a lot about how series finales are brilliant and all that jazz but believe me when I say, I don't think any of them can top the finale that was Sisters' Fate. Seriously. I have been sitting on this book for hours and I just feel . . . well, I just feel so much. I am so utterly torn and heartbroken and hopeful and yet, satisfied? I could go for more, as I said, but it doesn't mean that there's not an ending. There is. There could be more, there could be spin-off series (I believe) but there is a conclusion but it is a very bumpy ride getting there.I didn't think these books could get better after Star Cursed and I had high hopes and high expectations for this book and it blew all my expectations away. You will cry. You will cringe. You will want to murder someone. Or maybe a few someone's. You will want revenge. You will want kisses. You will want love. Most importantly, you will want family to win out in the end. Is family only blood, though? I don't think so. Family is so much more than just blood relatives but blood relatives should be what's most important. Right?If you haven't read these books because you don't like witches or you don't like the time period or what have you, I seriously suggest giving them another chance. I'm not the biggest fan of witch books but these will always be an exception. If you've read the previous two books, I know you'll be picking this one up because no matter how you feel about the books, how can you not after having dealt with such a horrid cliffhanger? If you haven't read the books, aren't you a little curious as to what this insane cliffhanger is? Good thing is, now you don't have to wait like the rest of us. Glad they were free, would have been very upset to have spent money. Sorry, but going to have to recommend passing on this series. My child, who loves to be read to didn't enjoy these books at all.
